On October 21,2014-Present(2015) more that 70,000 children have crossed the U.S border without their parents. Around 1,000 of the children were sent to a makeshift way station set up in a border patrol detention facility. That is were they would decide whether or not to deport them...Statistics show an increase of children crossing. The amount of unaccompanied children that have crossed was at 47,017 around the the ages of 17 and under and that was how many were apprehended in the border (2014). Now it has raised to a total of 70,000 and it's still growing. Starting in the year of 2013 there has been an increase from then until now and the percentage of increase show that around 92% more children have crossed into the United States. There are many reasons parents have sent their children into the U.S. and the reason for that was that they wanted a better life for them and because there is too much violence and the economic conditions are not good. Another reason that the kids are fleeing their home countries into the U.S. Is because of increased threats from drug cartels or even the state. Although police have tried to maintain the violence level lower and controlled it has not happened. The police have been a failure to have some type of control. Some of the children interviewed while in custody have shared their stories of being personally affected with violence and others have admitted to have been affected by violence and domestic abuse at home. Older teens who also have crossed said that they fled their country because they have been affected by the human smuggling industry. The children are still in good care in the U.S. but many are going to be deported. Some will be allowed to stay in the U.S. If they have a relative living in the U.S. Who can take care of them. A homeland secretary who's name is Jeh Johnson is advicing parents and children not to cross into the U.S. Border because there is too much danger when they cross.
