The Cold War began after WWII In 1945. There was issues with national interests and that was also a reason it had started. Another reason the Cold War began was because of nuclear weapons. The United States and The Soviet Union had been allies and caused tension between the democracies of the Western World and the communist party in Eastern Europe. One weapon that United States had created was the very first "Hydrogen Bomb". This gave the U.S. a short advantage in nuclear Weapons with the Soviet Union. After what the U.S. did, the Soviet Union had a success in creating a Atomic bomb. Then after the U.S. foun out they began accelerating their program into creating a bigger nuclear weapon. The nuclear weapon created was known as the "Hydrogen Bomb" and it was 1,000 times more powerful than any atomic bomb or device ever created. It caused so much destruction that scientists did not know it was capable of doing so. The Cold War lasted for about 45 years and ended in 1991. Even though the Soviet Union and the United States never declared war towards each other they had fought indirectly in proxy wars , the arms race and the space race. With so much tension built up it made the Cold War last longer than expected but then it finally came to an end in 1991.
