Segregation is the action or state in which someone or something are set are apart from other people or things. There was a time period were African-Americans got separated from the whites. After the abolition of slavery in the United States, three Constitutional amendments were passed to grant newly freed African Americans legal status: the Thirteenth Amendment abolished slavery, the Fourteenth provided citizenship, and the Fifteenth guaranteed the right to vote. Regarded by many as second-class citizens, blacks were separated from whites by law and by private action in transportation, public accommodations, recreational facilities, prisons, armed forces, and schools in both Northern and Southern states. In my opinion, they had no right to put segregation laws because everyone should be treated equally no matter what "color" they are. There was no need to segregate everything. For example, segregated schools, everyone needs an education. Many complained that people of other races did not know anything, maybe that would be because they did not have the education they needed to get. African Americans were sent to school where they sometimes did not have the supplies that they needed. I think some people still feel like they are superior from others because of their race but honestly everyone is the same. People should not compare each other with one another. We should treat people the way we want to get treated.
