Racism in the belief that all members of each race possesses characteristics or abilities specific to that race, especially so as to distinguish it as inferior or superior to another race or races. Words associated with racism are discrimination and prejudice.
In the United States racism has been a long lived action. Slavery is an example of racial discrimination in the U.S. About fifty years ago, America saw mass racism and segregation on a huge scale. Whites were supressing the inferior race, African American slaves. Slavery was wrong, no one should feel more superior than others. No race is superior. We are all equally created. We all have our natural rights. Racism has not vanished, but racial relationships have increased. Now in days we see various races interacting with one another. There are interracial marriages, friendships, schools, and interactions now in days. I whole heartedly doubt that racism will evaporate from the surface of this earth. Although it may not disappear, racial acceptance has increased over the years and there is now interracial births. Our new generations are taught to interact and learn about new cultures and ethnicities. New world teachings have decreased racism. For example, on January 20, 2009 the United States saw its first Black President, when Barack Obama was elected the 44th President of the United States on November 4, 2008, and sworn on January 20, 2009. This was a huge voctory for the Black americans as well as Hispanics. Although racism still lives among us, it has diminished and less discrimination is seen in today's society and politics as well as government.
